Recipe
Quick and easy green smoothie
This is one of my favourite smoothie recipes.
Here's why:
•it's quick and easy to make
•It provides lots of water to help hydrate
•it contains lots of minerals to help alkalinize the body
•it's a good source of vitamins
•it's not high in sugar
•it's a good source of protein which makes it
great for breakfast (a 1.5 cup serving provides about the same amount of protein as 1 and a half eggs)
•it is a great source of good fatty acids – especially omega 3
•it tastes pretty good too!
Ingredients:
2 cups water
1 medium banana
1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1 cup spinach (slightly packed)
1 cup lettuce (any kind except iceberg)
2 tbsp chia seeds (Salba) ground
1 tbsp flax oil
Optional: add 3–5 grams of hemp protein powder
Instructions:
1. add all the ingredients – except the chia seeds
and flax oil to a blender
2. grind the chia seeds and add to the blender
3. blend until smooth
4. add the flax oil and blend for 10 seconds only
Makes 4 cups
Notes:
•adding the flax oil at the end helps prevent it being damaged in the blender
•use a mini coffee grinder to grind the chia seeds
•you can substitute strawberries, raspberries, or blackberries for the blueberries
